Elephant Festival

Elephant Festival is a popular festival celebrated in Jaipur city of Rajasthan. It is celebrated on the day of Holi festival, usually in the month of mid of March. The festival has the features of Elephant polo and Elephant Dance which actually attracts children very much. The Elephant Festival begins with a beautiful procession of decorated elephants, camels, horses and folk dancers.
The owners or the mahouts of the animals proudly embellish their elephants with vibrant colors, jhools which are rich decorated saddle cloth with lots of embroidery and mirror work worn by elephants and heavy jewelry. It is quite a pleasure to see female elephants wearing anklets, which tinkle as they walk.
In this festival people spread ‘gulaal’ or colored powder being sitting on the top on top of the elephant. The most beautifully decorated elephant is awarded. Elephant polo, Elephant race, the tug-of-war between Elephant and 19 men and women are the featured events of the festival.  This festival is organized by Rajasthan Tourism, the Elephant Festival is a unique festival of Rajasthan. This festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm on the time of Holi between March and April, the festival is full of entertaining factors. Elephants, are treated as the royal creatures are decorated beautifully as they are the center of attraction of the festival. Elephant races, elephant parades and elephant polo are the wonderful events visitors can treat their eyes to. The female elephants also participate in the beauty pageant and the most beautiful female elephant bags the prize. People play Holi in a unique style by escalating the finely painted and decorated elephants.
Attending the elephant festival is a lifetime experience. Jaipur is well connected with all types of transport. Elephant Festival is held at Chaugan Stadium. Chaugan Stadium is right in the middle of the Old City of Jaipur, to the north of Tripolia Gate and the City Palace. Entrance is free and the time is usually in the early evening from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Govind Dev ji      As the name suggests, this temple is of Lord Govind Dev ji - The original idol of Lord Goivnd Dev ji was found by the follower of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu named Roop Goswami about 450 years ago. It is said that Maharaja Sawai Jai singh installed the idol after it was brought from Vrindavan when Mughal ruler Aurangzeb tried to destroy it.
