Kapoor Chand Kulish Smiriti Van

Kulish Smriti Van is situated on the Jawaharlal Nehur Marg. During the devastating flood of 1981 this area was inundated and deep ravines were formed. Initially under the guidance of Sh. Mitha Lal Mehta, the former Chief Secretary of Rajasthan and Vedic Scholar Sh. Kapoor Chand Kulish, this area was taken upto plant trees in the memory of near & dear ones.
Later under green Rajasthan campaign the State Govt. decided to develop the area as biodiversity forest. Hon'ble Chief Minister of Rajasthan Mrs. Vasundra Raje Seindhia laid the foundation of the Park on Oct., 8 2005. About 54 ha. area land of Jhalana-Kho Nagorian forest block was developed with the financial assistance from JDA, as biodiversity forest. The Smiriti Van was dedicated to public on 8th December 2007.
The Kulish Smiriti Van is divided into following 11 Sections:-
1. Vasundhra Van:- The Vasundhara Van is the main attraction of Smirti Van. Various natural paths have been laid down in the ravinous valleys of the area. A successful efforts has been made to arrest soil erosion by growing species of flowering plants on both the sides of paths without disturbing the existing natural vegetation. Besides small lawns have been laid to relax provide space to in the natural environment. Aromatic plants like 'Mogra', Champa etc. and other plants like Almonda, Coral tree have been planted in this section.
2. Eco-Environment Museum: There are four halls in the museum section where photograph of birds and flowers found in the 'Smriti Van' have been displayed. One hall is kept for viewing films on nature & wild life.
3. Vrindavan Van:- This contain exemplary work on drainage line treatment wherein slopes have been stabilized by spreading nets and planting plants in them. The flow of water has been controlled by using boulders. To get rid of foul smell 'Mogra', 'Juhi and Rat Rani plants have also been planted. Champa and other flowering plant have also been planted in Nala bed.
4. 'Maru Van:- Xerophytic plants like cactus, Euphorbia, Agave and Succulent plants in good numbers have been planted in this 'Van'. The hilly area of this land will completely be covered by these plants as the time passes. At present Euphorbia flowers are main attraction for the visitors. 64 species of this kind of plants have been planted.
5. Aravali Van:- Efforts have been made to plant various species of plants found in Aravali hill range mainly Dhak, Dhavada, Saalar, Gurjan Hawan, Rohida, Khejdi, Gugal, Gangan etc.
6. Sarovar :- Water from Jawahar Nagar Kachi Basti Nala flowing in eastern part of Smriti Van and stored in this "Sarovar" goes to Vrindavan. This area has been dug 5 ft. Deep, and for storing water, nine ponds have been constructed. In these ponds different varieties of Lotus have been placed. Fishes and Ducks have also been put. Immigrant Birds have increased in good numbers in this area during winter.
7. Rastriya Van: Representative plant species of the country have been planted in this 'Van' like.
'Semal, Tibubua Species, Shisham, Paras Peepal, Ficus Ali, different species of Almanda, Gambhari, Kachnar, Rose wood, Beringtonia, Sita Ashok (Yellow as well as Red) Militia, Sinduri, Colvelia, Akash Neem, Mahuwa, Puttranjeeva, Floss Rajni, Spathodia, Cherry, Tehoma, Gooseberry, Siras, Brasia, Arjun, Lagerstroemia etc.
Flowering trees and shrubs like Almonda, Bougainvillea, Sada Bahar have been planted along the inspection path and Bouganvilla have been planted on each of old tortoise tree for beautification of the plantation area.
8. Champa Van:- 108 varieties of Champa Plants have been planted in this van. These plants produce flowers of different colours and fragrance.
9. Java Kusum Van:- About 68 varieties of Gudhal (Hibiscus) Plants brought from all over the country have been planted in this section. Flowers of different colour shape and size are worth seeing.
10. Hi-tech Nursery: To maintained variety and quality of plants a Hi-tech nursery is being developed.
11. Dhanvantri Van: This is the largest section of the van which is spread over 40 acres of land and developed as a herbal garden. More than 225 species of medicinal trees shrubs, herbs & climbers have been planted in this section. Tree species like Bahera, Amla, Neem, Arjun, Maulsari, Bel, Kathal, Sandalwood, Kachnar, Lasura, Gular, Rudraksha, Jamun, Sita Ashok, Guggal, Putranjeeva, Giloe, Akarkara, Gokhru, Ghritkumari, Ashwagandha, Sarpagandha, Tulsi, Mehndi, Bhringraj, Bansa etc.
